- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing the pan)
For the Brown Gravy:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan with olive oil. - Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined. - Shape and Bake the Meatloaf:
Transfer the meatloaf mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing it evenly. Bake for 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). - Make the Brown Gravy:
While the meatloaf is baking, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and soy sauce, and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste. - Serve:
Once the meatloaf is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice the meatloaf and serve with the homemade brown gravy, mashed potatoes, and a side of corn or vegetables.
