Grandma’s Famous Holiday Pastries Recipe 🎉
These nostalgic little pastries are a beloved memory from my childhood. My grandma used to make them for our holiday parties, and I would always sneak a few more than I should! Now, I’m thrilled to share the recipe with you. A true guilty pleasure that will warm your heart and taste buds. Here’s the recipe for you to enjoy – I only ask for a simple “Yum” in exchange!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup sugar (for dusting)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Cut in the softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add Sour Cream: Gradually add the sour cream and mix until the dough comes together. If the dough is too dry, add a bit more sour cream or water until it holds together.
- Chill the Dough: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Roll and Cut: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once chilled, roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Using a round cookie cutter or a small glass, cut out circles of dough.
- Shape the Pastries: Place each dough circle into a muffin tin, pressing it gently into the bottom and sides to form a little cup shape. Sprinkle a pinch of sugar into each pastry shell for added sweetness.
- Egg Wash: Beat the egg and brush it lightly over the top of each pastry to give it a golden, shiny finish.
- Bake: Bake the pastries in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Enjoy: Let them cool slightly, then serve and enjoy the warm, nostalgic goodness! And remember, one simple word—”Yum”!
